NABSE

NATIONAL ALLIANCE OF BLACK SCHOOL EDUCATORS

The National Alliance of Black School Educators (NABSE) was founded in October 1970
under the leadership of African American Superintendents throughout the nation. San
Francisco African American Educators captured the vision of making a strong commitment to
the education of all children/youth and African American students in particular; providing a
coalition of all African American Educators and creating a forum for the exchange of ideas and
techniques in June 1977. This effort was built upon several past efforts, but never before as a
coalition of all African American educators.
